Happy International Women's Day!
This year’s theme set by the United Nations is “gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. Today (March 8), we recognise and celebrate the contribution of women and girls worldwide working to combat the challenges of climate change to help build a more sustainable future for all.
At Quintas, we proudly champion gender equality and inclusive opportunities for all every day.
Quintas Energy voices - empowering gender equality
International Women’s Day is a time when we can reflect and be grateful for the women who have shaped our society and those who have helped us in our personal and professional lives. Here are some reflections from our team members about their experiences at Quintas.
Julia Obermoller, General Counsel
“We remain surrounded by companies led by men, but I am glad to see a rising percentage of women in leading roles in modern companies. I consider Quintas Energy to be a modern company.
"Over the past eight years, we have steadily evolved to include more women in our leadership team than men (75% vs 25%). The world still has a long way to go to create equality, especially on a cultural level, but I am happy to form part of a forward-thinking company supported by strong women. I am looking forward to continuing to play my role in making the corporate world a bit better every day, which means embracing diversity in all of its facets.”
Irene Reyes, Group Head of Quintas Advisory
“I am the Head of Advisory for Quintas Group, meaning I lead our technical consultancy branch in the group. I was the first engineer to join the company in 2009 and am now part of the leadership team. I am proud to work for a company where over 50% of those in the highest-level positions are women.
"I have always loved a challenge, and choosing to study industrial engineering at university was certainly challenging as a young woman, especially as I was the only female in my class. Engineering as an industry remains dominated by men, but ongoing activism and forward-thinking practices from companies such as Quintas are all having positive effects on closing the gender gap. The image of the engineer is slowly changing. No longer is this industry epitomised by men in yellow hard hats and high-viz jackets. Engineering is now a career taken up by a diverse group of people in a multitude of environments.
"I am very proud to work for a company where being a woman is not a disadvantage. I’ve always felt that Quintas has provided me with equal opportunities to demonstrate my skills and has given me the space to grow professionally within a supportive environment.”
Nataliya Moroz, Digital Marketing Senior Associate
“In my native country, March 8 is not only a celebration of women’s power and beauty but also the end of the winter and the beginning of new life. Through the years, this day has developed a new meaning for me: the reminder that we are still women in a man’s world and that many things that we can enjoy today are a result of the struggle of many generations of women. Today is a reminder that it is my turn to contribute to making the future for millions of girls better.
"Working at Quintas, you can see that a gender balance is something real and natural. Here nobody judges you for your sex, religion, or nationality. The only thing that matters is your professional skills, and, honestly, this is the best motivation for your professional growth.”
Aida Durnes, Chief Operating Officer
"I can happily and proudly say that I am the Chief Operating Officer of Quintas Energy, a company that believes that women can contribute to the development and success of corporations in a unique way. To the question of whether I had to choose many times between my personal life and career, unfortunately, the answer is yes, as many other women can surely confirm. There are still many burdens and prejudices that women must fight against to keep a professional career, especially when performing leadership roles.
"From Quintas, I am looking forward to continuing to help break down walls that prevent women from performing leadership roles. Women in leadership positions are essential for a sustainable society."
