Associate, Legal Team
Originally from Colombia, I moved to Seville, Spain, in 2020 to further my career in the renewable energy industry.
Arriving just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I decided to study for a master’s degree in Legal Business Advice at the University of Seville, which I’m currently in the process of finishing. Earlier this year, while in the middle of my studies, I was fortunate enough to be offered an internship with the legal team at Quintas.
During my time as an intern, I had the opportunity to learn all about the legal contracts and agreements that are required during the development of photovoltaic (PV) energy portfolios. I’ve also had the chance to work on a number of projects that involve EPC contracts for the construction side of PV plants, Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Contracts, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).
After completing my internship, I was very excited to be offered the opportunity to join Quintas on a full-time basis. I’m now working at Associate level in the legal team. I’m really happy in my role and I’m proud to be part of such a talented and motivating team.
My main role in the legal team is to support with the management of project contracts, such as O&M, EPC, leases, and security contracts. Some of my tasks include preparing information and compliance dates, issuing formal notices to contractors and related parties, providing legal support to the technical and finance teams, along with accurate data management. I am proud to work for such a forward-thinking business in an environment that is multidisciplinary, multicultural, and multilingual. Knowing that I work for a company that helps to alleviate real-world problems is one of the best things about my job. All of this increases my motivation to learn and to better myself in every aspect of my work.
Before moving to Spain, I worked for a number of commercial law firms in Colombia while completing my law degree at the National University of Colombia (2013). I later moved on to work for the Judicial Branch of Colombia where I provided civil and commercial legal advice.
My advice for anyone considering a career in the renewable energy industry would be to follow your passion, give it all you’ve got and go for it. It is the perfect time to join the industry.
I’ve always been environmentally conscious and passionate about protecting the environment. My particular interest in renewable energy production and sustainable development led me to study my first master’s degree in Environmental Law in 2015. Studying via the International University of Andalusia while working really consolidated my ambition to build my career within the renewable energy sector. My advice for anyone considering a career in the renewable energy industry would be to follow your passion, give it all you’ve got and go for it. It is the perfect time to join the industry.
Working for Quintas has given me the perfect chance to combine my passion for renewables with my legal knowledge developed during my university studies. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow, developing my skills, and continuing to support the development of solar PV projects as part of the Quintas team.
